HIKIKOMORI GANG LIFE

→ May 2011 I have really been enjoying Adrian Tomine’s Scenes From An Impending Marriage lately. The style in this book is a lot different than Tomine’s Optic Nerve series and his illustrations for the New Yorker, which helps create the light, comedic mood that the graphic novel portrays. It’s also Tomine’s first autobiographical work (which is a common trend in the alt-comix sphere) and he manages to make the entire affair funny and entertaining without resorting to being overtly precious.
